(For the record, I'm assuming that you meant all girls school.)
*
You like this corner of the coffee shop. You can write without anyone looking over your shoulder, and you can watch the passersby from over a good cup of coffee.
Like the girl that’s walking outside the shop now: short, tanned, long black hair, neon green scarf haphazardly wrapped, probably around twenty. She looks familiar but you can’t quite place her face.
She steps inside, pulling her scarf down from her mouth. Her name is on the tip of your tongue when she sees you and her eyes light up. “Rose!” she exclaims.
Right, it’s Jade Harley. “Jade,” you say warmly. “Fancy meeting you here.”
“Jeez, it’s been forever! Still writing ridiculous wizardfic?”
“Yes, actually—”
“Right, I heard you got some award for it,” she says, sitting down next to you. “Anything else going on with you?”
You close the laptop. You’d forgotten how much of a motor-mouth Jade is. You haven’t forgotten how good Jade looked in your all-girls school’s uniform, however, even if she was one of the only ones. (Kanaya had taken its very existence as a personal affront, you remember.)
“My life has been rather ordinary lately, actually. I got a cat,” you offer.
“Wanna have some fun then?” Jade has that gleam in her eye that means if you say yes you’ll either end up in jail or a folk hero whose adventures are repeated for years. You know that gleam from your school days together, as well as the grin that’s spreading across her face.
But you could use some chaos in your life.
“What the hell, why not,” you say, and Jade laughs.
“Knew you’d say yes,” she says, and places a neat kiss on your cheek.
