Scene: The Strider household. A two-room apartment shared by two brothers. Dirk, the younger, is in his bedroom. The common room, which serves as Dave's sleeping quarters, is in disarray. A futon is tipped onto its back; stuffing spills from a slash in the mattress. The large plasma television's screen is cracked. Papers are strewn about and flutter as a fan oscillates. Sparks leap from a cracked knitting needle, which sizzles ominously near the doorway. The SORD lies on the floor, snopped beyond repair.
