>Mr. Crocker: Tell Roxy to come out. (FILL: TEAM BRO<3GRANDPA)

When you heard the alarm you found her hidden underneath your desk, face flushed, fully aware that she’d been caught. You’re crouched down, hands mildly playing with the edge of the desk as you stare at her.

She doesn’t stay anything after a while, so you speak.

“Roxy, mind telling me what you’re doing under my desk?”

The cobwebs seem to brush away from her mouth, “Oh, haha, didn’t you know? This is where the party’s at,” she taps the desk, “Right here. Yep. You can’t find a better party.”

“Seems a little small for a party.”

“Small parties are good too!” You raise an eyebrow at her. She smiles sheepishly and crawls out, smoothing her skirt once she’s standing.

“I was looking for the bathroom—”

“—and you found my safe?” you finish. She turns red. You squash down the part of you that enjoys it.

“Okay, okay. I’m sorry Mister Crocker! I was… I was curious, I guess. I shouldn’t have looked.”

You stare at her for a little while and she fidgets. Right as you can sense she’s feeling about ready to abscond, you allow yourself to smile.

“Maybe you applied it incorrectly, but you shouldn’t apologize for being curious. It’s a sign that you’re growing up, becoming a very perceptive young woman.”

She gasps, as if surprised by the praise. You wonder if it’s just yours or praise in general, but you continue, “Knowing when to walk away from things that are not meant for you is also a sign of growing up. But, just this once, I think… do you want to see what’s inside the safe?”

Her eyes are even wider than before. “Woah, shit. I mean, shoot. Seriously?”

“Seriously.”

She looks at the safe, looks back at you and nods.

>Dad: Show her your treasure
