BONUS ROUND 4

Bonus Round 4

Mobius Double Reacharound FST - Revisited

Hi shippers! Welcome to Bonus Round 4! Bringing back a favourite from last year! (Sorry for the delay, we're very busy!)

Here’s how this is going to work: somebody will submit a selection of 3-6 songs without comment. Then somebody else will come along and create a companion fanwork to fit the soundtrack!

Rules
  1. If you are submitting a soundtrack: submit only the track listing and download or youtube links. The idea is that people should ~interpret~ your selections!

  2. You are not allowed to fill soundtrack prompts with your team's ship, nor are you allowed to fill your own soundtracks. (Filling your team's soundtracks is okay!)

  3. Soundtracks count for 5 points each, for a maximum of 100 points per team.

  4. Fills may be in whatever format you choose (except FST, of course) so long as they link the songs by mood and/or lyrics in some kind of narrative.

  5. Post your fill as a comment to the prompt post, using the title format described below.

  6. This challenge will run until 11:59PM EST August 3rd.

Title Format

If you are starting a new thread, please use this format in your title.

Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your team name is not in this format and in the title we cannot guarantee that it will be counted.

If you are filling a prompt, use this format in your title.

Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your team name is not in this format and in the title we cannot guarantee that it will be counted.

Posts not using this format in the title will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, no matter what they contain. They, like all comments on the comm, are subject to the Wank Policy.

Scoring
For prompt posts: 5 points each (maximum of 100 per team)

For Fills (as stated here)
First 5 entries per team: 30 (per entry)
Entries 6-10: 20 (per entry)
Entries 11-15: 10 (per entry)
Entries 16+: 5 (per entry)

All scored content must be created/assembled new for this round.

We would prefer that any questions about this challenge or anything else in the HSO be emailed to us at homestuck.shipping AT gmail!

FILL: TEAM DIRK<>ROXY

You are Eridan Ampora and you reside in Hell, or at least it's the closest thing you can get to Hell, you assume. You're dead, your dreambubble seems particularly focused on the Land of Wrath and Angels, which was just a clusterfuck of bad memories, and you got here by being sawed in half by Kanaya after you killed Feferi and blinded Sollux. Could you have fared worse? Probably not. Do you deserve this? Of course not. Well, maybe. Okay, kind of yes. But either way you're bored out of your mind and your memories have caused angels to manifest themselves all over the place to taunt you just like they did when you were actually on the planet. You're alone with your fear, guilt, and regret.

Aradia came by once. It was the first time you saw her alive in ages and she was pleasant enough when she spoke to you, filling you in on how the dreambubbles work. But then again, she wasn't present for your more terrible acts and maybe no one told her about them until after, and maybe that's why she hasn't come back yet. You're not sure you want to meet up with the others anyway, they all hate you.

With reason, you suppose. No, no, Eridan, stop right there, you warn yourself, but you're already heading down that mental path towards overanalyzing all the reasons why everyone would hate you which leads to why Feferi would hate you and why Sollux would hate you, and when you think about why Sollux would hate you...

When you think of the reasons Sollux has for legitimately and fairly hating you, you wish you were still alive so you could just off yourself again. You really do have a bad way of going about most things, especially things like coming to terms with feelings for other trolls and trying to force the situation into your own favour. It's just so confusing. You hate Sollux for the way he makes you pity him. Fuckin inconsiderate and pitiful douchebag.

You glare up at the sky, aim your rifle, and take a shot at a passing angel. You don't want to deal with them right now. The shot misses and you make a frustrated noise before turning and moving in the opposite direction down the black street. A few paces later, you sense movement in the corner of your eye and aim to take another shot, but it isn't an angel.

It's Sollux. He's wearing a dark green robe, and huge wings stretch out from his back but they don't move, he's using his psionics to stay afloat. You go completely tense and don't make a move as he flies lower towards you until there are just a couple yards of air separating you. Sollux raises a hand, clenches his fist, and rips your weapon right out of your hands with his powers, sending it clattering away across dark cobblestone.

"That was fuckin' low," you yell at him, finally finding your voice. "Get down here if you want to fight!"

He touches down to the ground, but shakes his head. "I'd rather not fight with you, Ampora," he says.

It doesn't sound like the Sollux you remember and you suddenly realize something major. "Wait, you're not blind!"

"No shit," he replies. He lowers his green hood so you can see his eyes properly and they glow with red and blue energy. "That's surprising why?"

"We're from different timelines."

Sollux considers this as he looks you up and down. "Are you from the alpha timeline?"

"Guess so," you say with a small nod. "Not that it's done me any damn good."

He smirks. "Good to know you're dead in the alpha timeline too, you asshole."

He's god tiered and surrounded with psionic energy but that doesn't stop you from leaping at him, forgetting your rifle wherever he tossed it and resorting to fists. You get in one measly punch before he grabs your wrist and flings you to the ground. You get back up and go at him again but this time he catches you in psionics, hoisting you up in midair, unable to move.

"Let me down, Sol!" you seethe. Alternate timeline god tiered Sollux isn't as fun as alpha Sollux, at least in the sense that he won't properly fight back. You just want him to fight back, damnit, because when you're fighting is the only time you get his full undivided attention. It's the most passionate he'll ever be in relation to you. "Fight back, you bastard."

Sollux frowns. "Why are you so determined to attack me? It won't turn out any differently from last time, except that you can't die again."

Huh?

"What?"

"You should know better than to provoke me into being your fucking kismesis."

"Sol, I don't--"

"Stop being a belligerent asshole! Oh wait, that's impossible because you were hatched this way and you're socially incompetent. Because you have to complicate everything beyond what's necessary and you can't fucking allow yourself to trust anyone."

You've stopped struggling and instead you just watch Sollux go off on a tangent with furrowed brows, trying to make sense of his ramble. You get fed up a minute later. "Sollux. Shut. Up."

He growls at you and releases his hold. You crumple to the ground and decide you'll be saving yourself some trouble by just staying there. "Okay, start from the beginning, would you? What happened in your timeline?"

"You expect me to believe it happened differently in yours?" he spits.

"Yeah, I do, ya moron, because if they were identical I think this conversation would be different."

Sollux stares at you for a moment. "You murdered Feferi as a black solicitation for me."

You gape at him. "She attacked me, alright! And I killed her because she's a backstabbing bitch!"

Sollux's hands find their way around your throat and his body presses you hard against the ground. He leans close and hisses lowly at you, "Insult my moirail like that and I'll find a way to kill you again."

You hadn't thought you could get any more confused, at least until Sollux said moirail. "You... You and Fef are moirails?"

"Were," he corrects angrily. "You killed her, remember? You refused to believe her... you fucking idiot." You grimace as his face goes dark, looking like he might tear up. There's still got to be something you're missing.

"I blinded you," you blurt out, then mentally kick yourself for doing so. Sure, that's definitely the greatest way to defuse this situation. "I blinded you in a fight," you explain, "and then Feferi came at me. I didn't... No one would listen... I've got my damn reasons for not trusting anyone."

Sollux's grip loosens around your throat and you breathe deeply through your gills, relaxing slightly.

"Were we kismeses?" Sollux asks, of all things.

"No," you answer. "You always turned me down because you just plain hate me platonically."

With a shake of his head, Sollux sits up and gives you room to do the same. "Our timelines might be different, but it sounds like you're being a brainless idiot either way," Sollux tells you, though his voice is softer. "In our timeline, you could have had both a kismesis and a matesprit, but it turns out we were doomed all the same." He stands up and takes a few steps back, hesitating a moment before his wings give a flutter and he lifts into the air.

This entire encounter is giving you whiplash and you don't know what to feel, but you can't just let him run away. You scramble to your feet and hurry after him. "But Feferi turned me down, too! She didn't want to be my matesprit."

You hear him sigh as he looks back over his shoulder, face still translucently obscured through moving wings. "She didn't want to be your matesprit in my timeline either, she hated you."

"Now just a second," you yell, rage building up again. If Feferi hated you then who... Realization dawns on you and you can hardly believe it to be true. It has to be wishful thinking. "You!" you accuse, pointing a finger up at him. "Really?"

"Bye, Eridan," he responds sadly, flying higher.

Sollux is always an asshole, you decide, in every single timeline. In every one, he's an asshole and you pity him for pitying you. You hate him for trying to escape instead of owning up to his stupid feelings. Maybe that's hypocritical of you. Yeah, it definitely is.

You run after your rifle, take quick aim, and this time you hit your target. Sollux falters and falls, catching himself just before he would have crashed, and by then, you're in front of him to keep him steady anyway.

"Look," you start before he can protest. "I pity you. You're not going to find your Eridan in this bubble mess and I'm not going to find my Sollux either. What do we have to lose by getting to know each other a bit? Stay here with me."

You've never spoken the honest truth so confidently and maturely before in your life or afterlife. Sollux kisses you.
