BONUS ROUND 2
Bonus Round 2
The Return of Round Robin Fanadventures
Comments have been screened; we will be tallying the points over the next 48 hours or so, after which we will unscreen the comments. Comments have been unscreened! You may continue the fanadventures on this post as long as you like, though we will not be awarding further points.
Hi shippers! Welcome to Bonus Round 2.
Round Robin Fanadventures generated so much awesome stuff last year that we decided to bring it back!
For those who are new to HSO, this is not actually that complicated a concept, but it might be a little tricky to explain, so bear with me. The point of this round is to create a bunch of fanadventures that are for a team other than your own.
Rules
- If you are starting a new adventure: start a new thread using the title format defined below. Include either text or 1-2 pieces of embedded art setting a scene (or both!), and finish with a command (==> does not count as a command for new threads). Then sit back and wait for someone else to contribute!
- If you are continuing an adventure: find a thread that does not center around your team's ship. Then comment using the title format defined below. Include either text or 1-2 pieces of embedded art continuing the scene (or both!), and finish with a command (this can include ==>, though generally we would prefer otherwise). Then sit back and wait for someone else to contribute!
- For ease of reading, we suggest using standardized image sizes. 600x400 landscape is a pretty good size! But as long as it's the same as the other images in the thread, people will have an easier time following along. The HTML for inserting images is <img src="http://yourimageurlhere.com">
- For this challenge, there is no minimum wordcount. We are trusting you not to abuse that fact!
- You may not comment twice in a row in one adventure. The point is to hand off the scene like a hot potato.
- You may not introduce or create for your team's ship into a fanadventure. If someone else introduces your team's ship to a thread, you can still contribute to that thread so long as your contributions do not involve your ship.
- This challenge will run until 11:59PM EDT July 7. After that time, even if it's just by a minute according to the LJ timestamp, no submissions will be accepted for points.
NOTES:
- Audio posts are fine, so long as you include a transcript.
- Please make sure to check that your titles are correct!
- You may answer commands that have already been answered. Think of it like a 'choose your own adventure' game!
Title Format
If you are starting a new thread, use this format in your title.
Replace [THEIR SHIP] with the ship you want this particular fanadventure thread to be. Remember that you cannot create a fanadventure based on your own ship. Whatever ship you choose must be represented by a HSO team not your own. The only exception is gen adventures, which are permitted.
Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with. If your team name is not in this format and in the title it may not be counted.
If you are continuing a thread, use this format in your title.
Replace [COMMAND] with whatever command the previous fill has specified.
Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your title is not in this format it may not be counted.
Posts not using this format in the title will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, no matter what they contain. They, like all comments on the comm, are subject to the Wank Policy.
Scoring
(as stated here)
First 5 entries per team: 30 (per entry)
Entries 6-10: 20 (per entry)
Entries 11-15: 10 (per entry)
Entries 16+: 5 (per entry)
All fanadventure content must be created new for this round.
We would prefer that any questions about this challenge or anything else in the HSO be emailed to us at homestuck.shipping AT gmail!
New BROBOT<3JAKE Game (FILL: TEAM BRO<3DAD)
Your name is BROBOT, and as you stand in this silly pumpkin patch, something's bothering you.
You've been sent to this island almost two years ago, to serve as a sparring partner for the life-form known as JAKE ENGLISH. Your creator, DIRK STRIDER, carefully programmed you to be an optimal adversary. And maybe, he programmed you a little bit too well, because you can't remember the human ever beating you in a fight.
Still, something seems to be wrong with you.
Now, you are still focused on your main objective, which is to prey on English and attack him when he least expects it, all in the name of sharpening his skills and optimizing his abilities.
But every now and then you catch yourself not wanting to cause the human any harm. You aren't sure from where this feeling is coming from. All you know is that sometimes you think of him and it doesn't involve you beating the crap out of him.
And these thoughts have become more and more constant in the past weeks, and you don't have a clue as to why this is happening. Weren't you flawlessly programmed? What's going on here? Maybe one of your data banks is corrupted? No, doesn't seem like. You don't 'feel' like there's anything wrong with you. Everything inside of you is working like clockwork, as always.
So, what gives?
Maybe you should consult with the Auto-Responder about this whole thing? He always seemed to understand socail interactions a whole lot better than you.
> Brobot: Contact AR
Brobot: Contact AR (FILL: TEAM BRO<3DAVE)
Brobot [BB] began pestering Autoresponder [AR]
BB:0110100100100000011100100110010101110001011101010110100101110010011001010010000001100001011100110111001101101001011100110111010001100001011011100110001101100101
AR: What's wrong? I'm checking your stats right now and nothing seems to be out of order. Shouldn't you be off beating Jake into a pulp right now?
BB: 01010100011010000110000101110100001000000110100101110011001000000111010001101000011001010010000001110000011100100110111101100010011011000110010101101101
AR: You're having an issue beating Jake into a pulp. Are you rusting or something. Your main programming is to beat Jake into a pulp. I'm pretty sure that was coded pretty clearly by Dirk, like ridiculously clearly.
AR: It literally reads as 'Beat Jake into a pulp.exe'.
BB: 01001001001000000110010001101111001000000110111001101111011101000010000001110111011010010111001101101000001000000111010001101111001000000110100001100001011100100110110100100000010010100110000101101011011001010010000001000101011011100110011101101100011010010111001101101000
AR: I just scanned your systems for viruses and I didn't find anything related to 'I don't want to beat Jake into a pulp' so I don't understand what your deal is right now.
AR: So you don't actually want to hurt Jake. What exactly do you want to do? To Jake.
BB: 010010010010000001110100011010000110100101101110011010110010000001001001

BB: 0100110101100001011110010110001001100101
AR: Wow hug him? I wasn't expecting that, let alone you wanting to do maybe the complete opposite of what you were programmed to do. Interesting.
BB: 01110111011010000110000101110100001000000111001101101000011011110111010101101100011001000010000001101001001000000110010001101111
AR: Do it.
BB: 01110111011010000110000101110100
AR: Just hug him. It's highly unlikely anything bad will happen. It's just a hug. I'm sure Jake would appreciate hugs, especially from you, since the most you do is beat the shit out of him.
AR: Seriously, just go up to him and wrap your arms around his waist.
AR: gently, though. You know how squishy those human sausagebags are.
BB: 010010010010000001110011011001010110010100100000011101000110100001100001011011100110101100100000011110010110111101110101

AR: You go. Go and hug that classy dumbass.
Autoresponder [AR] ceased pestering Brobot [BB]
Feeling quite satisfied with the advice AR gave you, you decide to go and find the human Jake English to wrap your arms around his waist. Gently. Because he's a squishy human.

Re: Brobot: Find the squishy human. (FILL: TEAM JOHN<3KARKAT)
Though since your goal is supposed to be to make him stronger hiding
is not what he really should be doing.
Oh well!
That is not your concern right now, hugs are, lots of hugs, the best hugs, yea hugs are great.
Ah! There he is, heading towards his bedroom, which is not all shocking, and you are a bit disappointed it took you this long to figure out.
Once he reaches his room you prepare to attack, er you mean hug. You will do what you have heard Dirk talk about, a 'glomp' in which you surprise/attack them with a hug. You think it fits perfectly with your desire to hug and your instinct to attack.
==> Brobot: Glomp Jake.
=> Brobot: Glomp Jake. (FILL: TEAM DAVE<3JAKE)
You can't tell if he appreciates it or not seeing as he's not really trying to escape or reciprocate. It doesn't quite compute because usually one or the other will happen, you know from watching Jake's movies from the window when he wasn't looking. He makes this odd squeaking noise you're not sure is normal and his heartbeat seems to be picking up. Does he think you're dangerous? You don't move either way.
=> Be the frazzled teenager.
Re: Be the frazzled teenager. (FILL: TEAM DIRK <3 JAKE)
You are now JAKE ENGLISH and you are really friggin bewildered!
You were minding your own business, wandering into your room to
make out with Neytiriclean your guns, when you found yourself wrapped in the metallic embrace of your DADBLASTED CONTRAPTION OF A FISTICUFFS PARTNER.The damn metal man is always getting the jump on you! Even when set to NOVICE MODE, which you assume he must be right now since this rascally sneak-attack on your person seems almost…tender. If he’s on anything other than Novice, he always just beats the tar out of you then disappears while you nurse your bruised body (and pride).
In fact, if you didn’t know any better, you’d think that the infernal machine was giving you a hug rather than getting prepared to flip you in the air and throw your sorry ass across the room.
You make a distressed noise as you brace yourself for impact; your adrenaline is pumping.
But the collision of your rump with the floor doesn’t happen.
Brobot doesn’t let go either.
Your confusion has graduated to being downright BAMBOOZLEMENT.
JAKE: …
JAKE: Uh.
JAKE: Uh brobot?
JAKE: What are…
>Jake: Attempt to actually say something coherent.
Re: >Jake: Attempt to actually say something coherent (FILL: TEAM JOHN<3KARKAT)
You sort of scratch your head with your loose arm, it feels odd.
The robot makes a sound which you cannot for the life of you hope to understand, it sounds mostly like some buzzing and static to you but you suppose it is actually words. You can tell it is sort of frantic and frustrated, but that's pretty much it!
Golly you sure wish you could understand robot speak!
==> Brobot: Get AR to explain the situation
Brobot: Get AR to explain the situation (FILL: TEAM BRO<3DAVE)
Your effort to explain to Jake English that you wish to hug him was in vain! He couldn't understand your complicated robotic speech. You quickly send a nudge to AR for help. He would know how to correctly communicate with Jake.
He's up and at it and has taken over your speakers, how nice of him.
AR: Brobot is hugging you right now. He said he just felt like hugging you, so, here you are.
AR: Being hugged by Brobot.
=> Jake: Flip your gentlemanly shits.
> Jake: Flip your gentlemanly shits. (FILL: TEAM [Bro<3Grandpa])
There are no gentlemanly shits to be flipped, for you see... you have currently passed out due to lack of oxygen. Brobot's hold seemed to have tightened on you. How unfortunate.
> Brobot: Realize your dire mistake!!
Brobot: Realize your dire mistake!! (FILL: TEAM TAVROS<3VRISKA)
You make it there rather quickly and place him in his bed.
>Brobot: Wait around for Jake to wake up.
Re: Brobot: Wait around for Jake to wake up. (FILL: TEAM JOHN<3KARKAT)
You ponder over the hug, before Jake passing out it was actually very nice. You felt happy, an emotion you are, well happy, to know you have. You haven't ever been overcome with such a feeling of pleasure, you really want to do it again. Except not so hard, you learned that isn't the best thing to do, humans can't take the pressure.
You notice he is beginning to stir, he should be waking up soon.
==> Jake: Wake up
==>Jake:Wake Up (FILL: TEAM Equius♦Nepeta)
You awake to find a very familiar face rather uncomfortably close to yours. You suppose the concept of “personal space" was never included as a part of brobot’s programming.
Then again, you didn't think "hugging" was included as part of brobot's programming either, and yet that is apparently what he was doing, or trying to do, before you passed out.
It seems as though an explanation is in order. You may not be able to understand robot speak, but brobot can still shake or nod his head. If you can keep your questions to ones with yes or no answers you may be able to work out a reason for his unusual behavior.
==>Jake:Question Brobot
