Hey, shippers! HSO is winding down, so we thought we'd take a look back at the journey, so to speak. With that in mind, this next bonus round is going to be roadtrip-themed! Give us a little taste of your characters' life on the road, whatever form that takes.

Rules

Submit prompts! Prompts should consist of one ship (friendship/gen is fine too!) and a location. This cannot be your team's ship! This round we will not be giving points for prompts.

Look through the prompts and fill whichever you like!

You may not fill prompts for your ship, nor may you fill your own team's prompts.

Fills should be posted as replies to the prompts which they are for, following the format below. They may be any medium.

Normally Jade is the one travelling to mainland when the four of you meet in person but this time you all agreed it was your turn to go to her. Besides, having an entire island all to yourselves sounds fantastic. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want, as loud as you want, which is the perfect conditions for the best pranks ever, in your opinion.

But for now, you're all just having a relaxing moment by the water, hanging out and enjoying each other's company. Rose and Dave sit on the shore with their legs dipped into the water while you and Jade have a water fight a few yards away, laughing and squealing and tackling each other beneath the surface.

When you both stop to catch your breath, grinning happily and devilishly at each other, Jade swims closer and whispers, "Let's go get those two."

You grin in reply, glancing over at your two friends who are chatting about something in the distance. You duck under the water and swim towards them, and Jade follows, you exchange a grin under the water before each grabbing the leg of an unsuspecting friend and yanking them down into the water with you.

Rose just kind of smiles and pushes herself to the surface to take another breath of air, while Dave flails about in surprise before John shoves him upwards. "That was such a cool reaction, Dave, so cool," John teases.

Dave sputters water and looks at Rose, who smirks. "Did you not notice when everything suddenly became quiet? They were obviously up to something."

"There's no fooling Rose!" Jade laughs and splashes her friend with water. "But we still got you."

"You did. It was worth it to see Dave's reaction."

"Worst sister ever," Dave replies and joins Jade in the splashing. The water fight goes into full tilt again, this time in the form of Dave and Jade against you and Rose, and with your prankster gambit and Rose's pure evil cunning, there's just no way you can lose. Before you know it, the four of you are happily tired and the sun is already beginning to set.

"Last one to the shore is a rotten egg," you shout, already on your way before the sentence of out of your mouth.

"Cheater!" you hear Jade exclaim behind you and by the time you reach the shore, the four of you are a tangled mess of limbs, probably trying to stop you from winning more than anything. Together you all flop onto the grass, laughing between deep breaths.

"I think we should come to the island more often," Rose says suddenly, her way of saying she's having fun. You know you all agree, even Dave is enjoying himself too much to keep a constant straight face.

"I'd love that," Jade agrees. "It feels even more like home when you guys are actually here instead of just in my computer."

Eventually you all get up and head back to Jade's bedroom, already mostly dried off from the warm air outside. It's only been a day since you arrived and you'll be there a week, and now you're certain it won't be the last time you stay on Jade's island. You collapse into a pile of sleeping bags and pillows and you fall asleep, looking forward to your next day together.

"Maybe now they'll take you," Rose says, lazily, stretched out on the sunny stairs in the aftermath. You smack her on the arm. She breaks out into high giggles, her hair wafting up over her mouth, and you think you've never seen her so happy as inside a story with jokes, and footnotes, and a happy ending.
This is a gorgeous paragraph; from Rose's smugness and the evocative setting to the last line. I love this very much. Thank you!

oh gosh, this is so much what I wanted. I love this. Kanaya has the worst taste in palemates and how to properly express pale affection without being an enormous creepazoid. I ship this unto death.

Wikipedia has no holographs and will never spit an informative grub into your lap if you hit download, but it is endearingly haphazard, like a thornbush or a person.

It takes a lot of convincing to get Sollux to your hive. Or maybe you should call it a mansion, since it's enormous and old and no one has lived there except you in many long sweeps. No one's around to claim it or kick you out so you've taken it upon yourself to move in. You go outside to sit on the rickety wrap-around porch and wait for Sollux to arrive.

A few minutes later you see him in the sky and get up to greet him when he touches down on the grass and the red and blue light of his psionics fade. You give him a light kiss. "Thanks for coming, Sollux."

He looks at your mansion wearily. "I'm only giving in this one time because its so damn important to you for some reason but this has to satisfy you for at least a few perigees before you start bugging me to come back. I'll even clean up my hive for you to come visit more often as long as I don't have to come here."

You grin as he rambles and gripes. "Come on," you tell him, grabbing his hand and pulling him inside. To his credit, he comes quietly, although maybe that's because he's focusing on watching and listening for the inevitable company of ghosts.

The place has always been dark, dusty, and crumbling just enough to look cool, in your opinion. You drag Sollux up the grand staircase, the stairs creaking almost constantly, and turn left towards the wing where your respite block is. You don't have nearly enough belongings to fill the entire mansion.

"You know where we should explore tonight?" you say excitedly.

Sollux groans. "Can't we just stay in your respite block and make out?"

"I'm flattered," you laugh, "but I was thinking... the armoury!"

"Your creepiness knows no bounds, AA."

"Shut up, you pity me."

"Sadly I do."

Sollux follows you to the armoury, though he hesitates before going inside. "Are you sure about this? We're probably going to find a shitload of spirits with their heads bashed in or their bodies chopped in half. They'll probably be angry."

"They're never angry with me," you insist, going in without him. "I could use a bit of light, you know."

A moment later he follows, his eyes glowing red and blue to help you see through the darkness. The walls are lined with old swords, there are cases with sickles, axes, flails and other blunt instruments. There's blood dried on many of them, chipping and rusting away.

You hear a whisper and by the way Sollux tenses, you can tell he heard it too. "Hello?" you ask into the quiet. There's no answer right away and you try not to be disappointed.

"Look, no one here, let's move on," Sollux hisses behind you.

"We just got here," you insist, turning to look at him in the glow of his psionics. "How are you so afraid of them when you hear voices all the time?"

"I'm not scared, I just don't like it. As you said, there are enough voices as it is, why add more? I don't see why you like talking to them so much."

"They have stories," you explain. "And sometimes they're just lonely and wouldn't mind having someone to talk to once in awhile. How would you feel if you were trapped between life and death, just floating around an old mansion?"

Sollux shrugs. "I'd be happy to have a nice troll girl to talk to but then her stupid matesprit would come over and distract her so I'd haunt his pathetic ass."

You laugh softly and wrap your arms around Sollux's waist, pulling him closer to you. "None of them have ever done anything to you and they don't talk about you behind your back, either, I promise."

"Uh, AA..."

You kiss him again to stop him from arguing. For such a verbally aggressive troll, he sure can be frustratingly wimpy in situations like this. You suppose you just embraced your voices and powers more than he did.

Sollux pulls away slightly, "No really, AA--"

"Shush, nothing's going to happen!"

"Behind you!"

You spin around and sure enough, there's a spirit floating just behind you over a rack of hanging clubs. His curled horn is broken and one of his arms is missing and he's been watching the two of you through empty white eyes as you kiss and hold each other close. He winks.

"See?" you say, looking over your shoulder at Sollux.

"Nope, still creepy," Sollux states. "Just a different kind of creepy."

Hopefully there aren't too many mistakes, I really need to learn to quit writing at four am.

"Why are we here," Karkat grumbled under his breath, his arms crossed. Eridan loved when Karkat was like this because he knew that it meant he was happy. There's a subtle difference between when Karkat is actually mad, and when he's just acting that way because he's embarrassed; a subtle difference to people who didn't know him very well. If you took the time to actually see him for who he was then it would be very clear.

"Wwell, obvviously because wwe are takin a vvacation," he said smugly his hands on his hips like he actually said something that was worth being smug about. He quickly realized how dumb he sounded once he was on the receiving end of one of Karkats glares. "Fine, ugh, you're not any fun today Mr. Grumpy pants," he teased wiggling a finger before nervously jerking it back, almost afraid Karkat would bite him (he did that once).

"UGH," he pouted in a manner that made your blood pusher feel like it was going to burst out of your chest, "fine." He gave off a along sigh. Eridan could tell that he found the sentiment to be a tad bit endearing and hopefully at least a little pitiful.

After everything they had went through: dying repeatedly and coming back to life, getting stuck on a human planet that wasn't quite entirely human anymore--they deserved some good down time. They roomed together in a small apartment even though they had enough money to live nearly anywhere they wanted; they loved the comfort of being in a small area so close together. Eridan pretend he didn't notice Karkat cried in his sleep, even though he was sure Karkat knew he knew.

This was why he needed to get away from everything for awhile.

"That's right Kar, you are completely and totally glad that I decided to take you wwith me, I could have taken anyone but I took you." Eridan knows that if Karkat were anyone else he would have made a jab about how, really, there wasn't anyone else. These are the reasons Eridan Ampora loves Karkat Vantas, he wouldn't really hurt him. Good, honest, ironic, repartee is one thing--hateful jabs are another.

They both knew the truth, even if Karkat wouldn't say it.

"So, why did you want to come here specifically?"

"Wwell," he shrugged, "Davve said this wwas a good place, noww that I think about it maybe that wwasn't a good person to ask." Karkat doesn't even bother acknowledging that, while Dave and Eridan weren't close enough to go somewhere together they had made some weird bound over shitty photos or something equally stupid.

"Yeah, but what even is it, it's one of those state things but what's so special about this huh way ee place?"

Eridan never answered because Eridan didn't know; and while they both ended up catching a small cold and weren't actually able to leave the motel room since it was too hot for their tastes, they both had a good time anyway.

Nothing was better to either of them than being with each other.

Ooh, this is intriguing. And I love the descriptions of Jade's island, where vegatetation is an act of violence. And John liking a new weapon in his hand, and the thought of using it on something that isn't a person.

"AND THERE ARE THE SEA OTTERS," her voice nearly shatters your ear drums, and you fight the urge to roll your eyes at her. She's been bouncing around since a few weeks ago when she begged you to go with her since you were the only one who shared her aquatic interests, probably because you were the only other seatroll--unless you included the buoys. The other aquarium goers are mostly children and their parents, you smirk at the fact none of them could guess you were both aliens from another planet. The cloaking devices seemed to be working pretty good.

You don't want to admit that you're probably just as excited as she is, although you are less excited that there are barley any opportunistic on earth to see animals anywhere besides in cages. You really miss when you could see animals out in mostly unpolluted water.

"Clam down, you're all over the place, people are starin'," you give her another sigh.

"You should be more excited, don't you want to sea the fish?" she asked.

"Of course I do," you walk over to the next exhibit leaving her behind, maybe she'd get lost and you wouldn't have to deal with her anymore. You tell yourself these things a lot but yet you still stop walking and wait for her to catch up, and when she does you interlace your fingers and ignore the stares from the humans. Damn humans are weird.

((They don't mention it but I swear I was looking at the website and everything when I wrote it, that's where they're at.))
