BONUS ROUND 1
Bonus Round 1
Genre-Mixing
Hey, shippers! Welcome to your very first bonus round proper--we hope you have lots of fun with it! This time around we're going to be asking you to mix it up a little--each fanwork posted for this round will be a mish-mash of two different genres, blended together in a delightful incestuous slurry to create an UNSTOPPABLE CREATIVE CONCOCTION--er. Or. Something.
Yeah, we're genre-mixing. That's what we're doing this round.
Rules
- Submit prompts! Prompts should consist of two different genres and one ship. This cannot be your team's ship! These are worth 5 points each, for a maximum of 100 points per team.
- Look through the prompts and fill whichever you like!
- You may not fill prompts for your ship, nor may you fill your own team's prompts.
- Fills should be posted as replies to the prompts which they are for, following the format below. They may be any medium.
Title Format
If you are starting a new thread, please use this format in your title.
Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your team name is not in this format and in the title we cannot guarantee that it will be counted.
If you are filling a prompt, use this format in your title.

FILL: TEAM KARKAT♥KARKAT
-----------------------------
"Listen, John," murmured the shaky, hard voice of a knight (in training) as he awkwardly stumbled behind his interest of attraction in floppy, disorganized footsteps, "you know... we shouldn't be fucking doing this, right? Your dad... my dad... they'd kill us. Well, they'd kill me. You know, organized execution and everything. But not you. Because you're kind of aderpable and important to, I dunno, this entire goddamn kingdom. Are you listening? Fuck, John, what if they catch us? John. John! Your fucking Highness, are you listening?"
Of course, the heir wasn't listening. He never did. And Karkat had already realized that. At this moment, due to John's unabashed confidence in a little mission he wanted to complete which involved showing Karkat something "special," they were currently deep in a forest that Karkat couldn't very well name in his mind. However, he was pretty sure John knew this place thick and thin. He was gripping his hand and leading them both through the maze of shrubs like a horse racer. He had so much energy. (It was one of the things he loved about him.) But his armor was starting to prod at his side and it was making him cross. Damn, were they even there yet?
The ringlets of gold hung off John's neck and arms and jingled like tiny, soft little bells. They jingled a lot. While the comfort was there, the comfort in knowing John would jump immediately to his defense if they were ever caught by a damn guard or something, it didn't diminish the worry inside of him. The worry of that goddamn stake chopping his head right off his shoulders. He shivered. Oh, the horror. D:B
"We made it," whispered Sir Egbert the Second, "and Karkat, you're not going to get executed. You're a knight, remember? You're one of the best knights. The best." His grin was warm -- that stupid, buck-toothed grin. It got the troll every damn time. "I most certainly wouldn't let such a thing happen."
"They don't care! I am a poor, sad little runt who can easily be thrown away, do you understand? I am a troll, remember? I'm not really even supposed to be talking to you. I'm only here to fight for you. John, I really do love you, but this... this isn't right, okay? Please, let's go back and not do this, it's already getting--"
"Shoosh, Karkat my sweet. We're almost there. No one will catch us. And if it makes you feel any more at ease, I'll tell them you're... mm, helping me find my jewelry." He took those bracelets off his arms and tossed them in a bush. "Perfect excuse, no? Satisfied now?"
Karkat sighed, but did not make a comment
"Anyways, look. I know how much you really loved those romantic stories. And I remember you mentioning the..." John seemed to struggle with word usage. "The scenes with the... imagery. And playing the scene, and the feeling. How much you really liked that in any tale. I overheard you talking to another one of those knights... so I remembered this place, and I wanted to show it to you. I really hope you like it. It did take a little bit to get here..."
They turned into a clearing, and Karkat almost choked on his spit when he gasped.
It was such a lovely, serene little place. There was a swing hanging from a tree to the right, and a sitting stump to the left. Soft little sparks of bright gold dotted the dark gaps in between the trees and the short cut grass around what seemed to be a little pond. He spotted a stream flowing from a northern part of what he now realized was a playground, and a cute bridge arcing over it. The only sound you could hear was the stream. Oddly, that made the best background for this.
A cute paradise, concluded Karkat. And most certainly a cutesy sort of romantic. John did well.
"I heard tales of fairies," the heir suddenly said, taking Karkat in on the dirt path. The troll felt as if he was devaluing this spot but the atmosphere, the little lights... the sound... the peace. They didn't fade or disappear. He held tightly to John's hand.
"The fairies would find places like this, and this is where they'd mate. They'd sit by the pond, or build teeny little swings in some of the trees, and fly around and play together. Isn't that so neat?"
"Fairies aren't real."
"Well, I don't know. Perhaps..." A little exasperated chuckle. Karkat was being inappropriate, oops. John eventually led him to the stump, sitting down and patting the spot next to him. They both sat.
"This is really amazing," Karkat suddenly said, still a bit shocked. "Thank you." And after a nod, all was quiet, with only the sound of peace occupying the couple. Karkat could completely forget his hardships as a troll knight in training, forbidden from speaking to the boy he was right now sitting next to, who was wrapping a delicate arm around him, turning the troll's head and connecting their lips, pulling him into a passionate kiss. He forgot it all.
This was what he lived for. This was all he needed.
