BONUS ROUND 1
Bonus Round 1
Genre-Mixing
Hey, shippers! Welcome to your very first bonus round proper--we hope you have lots of fun with it! This time around we're going to be asking you to mix it up a little--each fanwork posted for this round will be a mish-mash of two different genres, blended together in a delightful incestuous slurry to create an UNSTOPPABLE CREATIVE CONCOCTION--er. Or. Something.
Yeah, we're genre-mixing. That's what we're doing this round.
Rules
- Submit prompts! Prompts should consist of two different genres and one ship. This cannot be your team's ship! These are worth 5 points each, for a maximum of 100 points per team.
- Look through the prompts and fill whichever you like!
- You may not fill prompts for your ship, nor may you fill your own team's prompts.
- Fills should be posted as replies to the prompts which they are for, following the format below. They may be any medium.
Title Format
If you are starting a new thread, please use this format in your title.
Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your team name is not in this format and in the title we cannot guarantee that it will be counted.
If you are filling a prompt, use this format in your title.

Posts not using this format in the title will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, no matter what they contain. They, like all comments on the comm, are subject to the Wank Policy.
Scoring
For prompt posts: 5 points each (maximum of 100 per team)
For fills (as stated here):
First 5 entries in each post: 30 (per entry)
Entries 6-10 in each post: 20 (per entry)
Entries 11-15 in each post: 10 (per entry)
Entries 16+ in each post: 5 (per entry)
All scored content must be created/assembled new for this round.
If you have any questions, please ask them at the FAQ post here, or email them to us (homestuck.shipping at gmail). Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that we will see them in a timely fashion!
FILL: TEAM [Dirk<3Roxy]
When I first talked to him, I thought he was just Dirk for a moment. Just my other self, my older self, my creator. The first thing that came at me were the six characters for color, and they matched him up to the one I knew so regularly. I almost skipped right over the second letter that preceded the message, the G-where-there-should-have-been-T, but I didn't. Obviously. Computers this good don't make mistakes.
"caw caw," the message said, when you strip off all the tags and other information that Pesterchum relays right to my nonexistent cortex. I guess he was looking for Dirk. But he found me, and I proceeded to be insufferably robotic. He proceeded to be insufferably birdlike. We actually had a lot in common, not that we would ever talk about it. Always too cool to talk about it, reflections of already fragmented coolkids, never honest with ourselves or with the world because we just showed the world what they wanted to see. Even with each other, when we neither expected nor wanted any sort of facade, we kept them up. It was just what they did.
I wish I had some sort of touching romantic story about how we met, but we never met. Obviously. I'm a pair of glasses, a string of zeros and ones at the most basic, and he's a physical being. Well, a sprite. Which makes him, technically, an undead metaphysical game-based construction, a figment, a more organic series of ones and zeros. But it was an incompatible language. He still saw the world as any other organic being did, and he could no more meet me in my world than I could he in his.
So I can't relay the color of his gorgeous hair or the way his eyes sparkled when he first saw me. I can tell you that I've processed pictures of him, that his glasses weren't nearly pointy enough and that he looks much more like a kid than a bird, that I couldn't find a single part of him that didn't look to me like a creamsicle pixel. I would've looked good on him, but that never happened.
Mostly, I knew him by his words.
We rapped together, and rapping wasn't what Dirk built me for, but even then I'm basically him, and it's been a fair while since I could find a match. He would spin metaphors until they got completely out of control, and I would tamp them down, temper them, make them make sense again. Occasionally, I fixed his grammar. Gotta put the kid in his place sometimes.
They told me he was doomed. I always thought it was dumb, because obviously we all were and that hadn't stopped any of us, but no. Maybe he was more doomed than the rest of us, maybe it just happened, but one day I went to pester him and he wasn't there.
It was silent in my dark little world for entirely too long.
I feel like this is a really shitty memoir. He deserves better. Someone who actually met him, maybe. Someone who could talk about his gorgeous face and sunny disposition. But I guess he gets me.
I could pull up any of our chat logs, show you how good he was at cryptic problem solving. And rapping. And the art of the ironic bird call. But you'd probably all die of cool overdose, two coolkids not holding back at all on the icy chill mannerisms. Gotta dial it back for polite company, but when it's just a pair of coolkids having tea for two, it's no holds barred.
Yep. It was great.
Yep.
Gog. I miss that motherfucker.
Re: FILL: TEAM [Dirk<3Roxy]
Thank you very much for the Fill! I am so very, very glad you wrote this!
Re: FILL: TEAM [Dirk<3Roxy]
I'm also glad you think I did it justice, since I'm not entirely confident in my ability to write iterations of Dirk yet. So thanks.
Re: FILL: TEAM [Dirk<3Roxy]
Oh yes, you did it excellent justice.
Re: FILL: TEAM [Dirk<3Roxy]
thank you for writing this, id not considered it before and it really works!
Re: FILL: TEAM [Dirk<3Roxy]
I'm really glad you liked it. :D
