Genre-Mixing

Hey, shippers! Welcome to your very first bonus round proper--we hope you have lots of fun with it! This time around we're going to be asking you to mix it up a little--each fanwork posted for this round will be a mish-mash of two different genres, blended together in a delightful incestuous slurry to create an UNSTOPPABLE CREATIVE CONCOCTION--er. Or. Something.

Yeah, we're genre-mixing. That's what we're doing this round.

Rules

Submit prompts! Prompts should consist of two different genres and one ship. This cannot be your team's ship! These are worth 5 points each, for a maximum of 100 points per team.

Look through the prompts and fill whichever you like!

You may not fill prompts for your ship, nor may you fill your own team's prompts.

Fills should be posted as replies to the prompts which they are for, following the format below. They may be any medium.

Title Format
If you are starting a new thread, please use this format in your title.

Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your team name is not in this format and in the title we cannot guarantee that it will be counted.

If you are filling a prompt, use this format in your title.

Scoring
For prompt posts: 5 points each (maximum of 100 per team)

For fills (as stated here):
First 5 entries in each post: 30 (per entry)
Entries 6-10 in each post: 20 (per entry)
Entries 11-15 in each post: 10 (per entry)
Entries 16+ in each post: 5 (per entry)

All scored content must be created/assembled new for this round.

Jade closed the tavern door with a sigh, walking forward to stand beside John at the edge of the cliff.

“Anything?” John asked, looking over his sister carefully. The morning sun lit up her golden skin beautifully, shining highlights of white in her black hair. But her eyes were steely behind her glasses.

“Not much. They did see him, obviously, but that was a few weeks ago.” Jade fiddled with the sleeves of her dress, lips pursed “I suppose we can't just go after him, can we?”

John shook his head. “Well...we could, if we didn't mind starving to death soon? I don't know about you, but I am not particularly keen on that!”

Finally Jade smiled, shaking her head. “Such a coward. Real men would be willing to take the risk!” But then her expression hardened once more. “They said something else, too, about a woman all in white. I can't figure out out if she's on our side or not, through... He certainly seems to care a great deal for her, anyway.”

“Is that so?”

Jade glanced at John, and then, with sadness, out to the sea again. “Sorry. Am I -”

“No. It's fine.” John breathed in deeply, stepping forward to brush at Jade's hand. Although he dearly wished to hug her now, as always, he dared not be more forward in public so. Jade jumped. “But...there's no need to worry. We have the trail, and now with Vriska's support-”

“I still don't trust her,” Jade muttered, and John frowned.

“I know. But there's no point in turning down help right now. And with Karkat and Princess Peixes and Lady Lalonde-”

“I know, I know.” Jade turned to him seriously, letting him take her hand. “But we spend so long on the ship with nothing to do but sail, and then when we reach land and can actually do something – it doesn't last very long. And then we're back to waiting again – always waiting and searching...”

“You can do it.” John squeezed her hand, smiling. “We can do it.”

Slowly, Jade smiled back, and while her beautiful face was marred with a grimace, John knew deep down that this smile, at least, was the most honest one she could wear at present.

She looked back at the sea, her long hair blowing in the breeze. For a long time she was quiet.

Finally, she spoke.

“What do you think we'll do when we catch him? When we defeat him? What then?”

John bit his lip, thinking carefully. “I guess we'll just have to keep sailing, won't we?”

A quiet giggle, and then Jade squeezed his hand again.
