BONUS ROUND 1
Bonus Round 1
Genre-Mixing
Hey, shippers! Welcome to your very first bonus round proper--we hope you have lots of fun with it! This time around we're going to be asking you to mix it up a little--each fanwork posted for this round will be a mish-mash of two different genres, blended together in a delightful incestuous slurry to create an UNSTOPPABLE CREATIVE CONCOCTION--er. Or. Something.
Yeah, we're genre-mixing. That's what we're doing this round.
Rules
- Submit prompts! Prompts should consist of two different genres and one ship. This cannot be your team's ship! These are worth 5 points each, for a maximum of 100 points per team.
- Look through the prompts and fill whichever you like!
- You may not fill prompts for your ship, nor may you fill your own team's prompts.
- Fills should be posted as replies to the prompts which they are for, following the format below. They may be any medium.
Title Format
If you are starting a new thread, please use this format in your title.
Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your team name is not in this format and in the title we cannot guarantee that it will be counted.
If you are filling a prompt, use this format in your title.

Squarewave trudged into Dirk's shop, sending out sparks and nearly toppling over at each step. Sawtooth stood up to gather tools to repair the smaller bot. By the sight of the orange shower, it was fairly obvious who won the rap battle. As if it wasn't obvious already who the better rapper was. Most of Dirk's and Squarewave's "battles" end this way. Squarewave attacks at the wrong time, leaving Dirk no choice, but to end it liquidly. Sawtooth was getting sick of having to repair Squarewave after each battle. Frankly, it annoyed him, if robots could feel annoyed.
“YO MAN, brzz YOU WOULDN’T BELbzzIEVE WHAT HAPPENED,” Squarewave said, in between circuit shocks.
“Don’t explain, it’s obvious. Lower your volume,” Sawtooth now stood several feet taller in front of Squarewave, wiping him with a towel.
Squarewave turned the knob at the back of his head, moving the volume from level 10 to level 4. “This bbbrzzz better, dogg?”
Sawtooth didn’t respond, which meant it was at an acceptable level. He unscrewed Squarewave’s chest piece to dry out the Orange Crush. “You’re terrible at rapping,” he finally spoke. Sawtooth never sugarcoated his words. Straightforward was his style, unless he was rapping. He could pull out all sorts of metaphors and innuendos, unlike Squarewave.
“I’m better than most,” Squarewave buzzed.
“You’re the worst on the planet,” Sawtooth mentioned while intricately wiping away the soda remains.
“I’m gonna be the best. I’ll be better than you.”
Sawtooth ignored the comment. He had been giving Squarewave rap lessons for a long time now. He was tired of seeing the little bot drenched in Orange Crush. He hated being unplugged in the middle of the night to see Squarewave shooting out sparks and hardly being able to form coherent sentences. Though he was annoyed by Squarewave not following his instructions, he cared for the bot. A robot that cares. There’s a shock.
“Hey Tooth,” Squarewave’s synthesized voice pulled Sawtooth out of his robotic thought process. “I’M CLEAN. LOOKS LIKE YOUR VIEWPORT AIN’T TOO KEEN, ‘CUZ IT CAN OBVIOUSLY BE SEEN. I MUST SAY THAT I’M MORE THAN OKAY. AND IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE, THEN YOU SHOULD GO ON SICK LEAVE.”
“You made a mistake starting this battle, you know. Turn off your headlights, my lines don’t sparkle, they glow. You’ve got nothing to do, so what are you in a hurry fo’? But, okay, you’re done. Get out, just go.”
Squarewave lingered in the room, rap-less, after Sawtooth screwed his chest piece back in.
“Nothing to say? What’s the matter, lil Wave? I said you were good to go,” Sawtooth organized the tools as he put them back in the box.
“I don’t want to get crushed again,” Squarewave lowered his volume.
“Then don’t rap with Dirk.”
“I want to show him that I’m better than him, man. How else is he supposed to see that without me rap battling him?”
“You start a battle at the wrong times. Give it a break. I’ll teach you some tricks, if that’ll keep you away.” Sawtooth eyed Squarewave pondering over the choices he had, until finally, he said, “I’ll tell you when you’re ready for another battle. Come here, your battery’s low.”
Squarewave extended the charger cable from the outlet. He liked having Sawtooth taking care of him. Squarewave was, admittedly, obnoxious, but having Sawtooth around really sparked his motherboard. He knew that even if he got himself into any sort of malfunction, Sawtooth would be waiting in the shop to fix him again. And although Squarewave had a poor way of showing it, he cared for Sawtooth too.
