BONUS ROUND 1
Bonus Round 1
Genre-Mixing
Hey, shippers! Welcome to your very first bonus round proper--we hope you have lots of fun with it! This time around we're going to be asking you to mix it up a little--each fanwork posted for this round will be a mish-mash of two different genres, blended together in a delightful incestuous slurry to create an UNSTOPPABLE CREATIVE CONCOCTION--er. Or. Something.
Yeah, we're genre-mixing. That's what we're doing this round.
Rules
- Submit prompts! Prompts should consist of two different genres and one ship. This cannot be your team's ship! These are worth 5 points each, for a maximum of 100 points per team.
- Look through the prompts and fill whichever you like!
- You may not fill prompts for your ship, nor may you fill your own team's prompts.
- Fills should be posted as replies to the prompts which they are for, following the format below. They may be any medium.
Title Format
If you are starting a new thread, please use this format in your title.
Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your team name is not in this format and in the title we cannot guarantee that it will be counted.
If you are filling a prompt, use this format in your title.

FILL: TEAM DAVE<3ROSE<3TEREZI
We hope your travels here will show you the full wonders of our city the
T̕͟È͟R̴R͠OR ̶AǸ̴͠D͠ ͘͟M̧͢ÁJ̀͡E̷S̛T̴̨͡Y̷̧
of it.
Here are a few key sites you might want to see while you’re here!
THE SEA GARDENS
Stare into the deep endless pools of dank water as you contemplate life’s endless miseries. Hear strange unsettling sounds as you witness fish with tentacles for eyes writhe against the shore in a last desperate attempt to run from the great and hideous beast that dwells in the garden’s furthest reaches. Remember your times near happier seas, when you were young and believed in life, in the living.
Attempt to investigate the black dripping trees surrounding the ponds! Sight a girl, your age perhaps, alien and fishy. Admire the way she laughs and pushes the fish back in the water, to its doom, and claps her hands.
Spend long moments looking at the curve of her spine, the waterfall of her hair. Look away when she looks at you.
Be a little surprised when she looks your way! Become even more surprised when she walks over to you.
Allow your jaw to drop when she tells you her name is Feferi Peixes, that she is the Empress-in-Waiting. Let the dank wet taste of the air fill your mouth.
THE FLOATING BAZAAR
Follow the girl empress to the main thoroughfare of the commercial sector of Void City, you have the unique opportunity of having a tour guide who knows the city better than perhaps everyone else. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! The story behind the Great Eyeball Clock is particularly intriguing.
Sample the oozing native fruits from nearby produce stands. Don’t be afraid when she tells you that your soul will be tethered to this place forever – it already is! You’re doomed, you might as well enjoy the heady fungus laden taste of this fruit while you still are in possession of a mortal body that can taste. That has a mouth.
Let her feed it to you, juice dripping from her fingers as she strokes your hair. Laugh when she tickles your arm. Stare into her bright glassy eyes, become lost in them.
Kiss her, then, with the juice of the foreign fruit still running down your chin. Her tongue will lick your lips clean, and you’ll lean into her clammy weight.
Fail to be alarmed by the way her mouth curls into a shark toothed grin.
THE BONE PALACE
Listen to her tell you about her home! Be entranced by her childhood stories of scampering from begilled guards, and ask if you can see the palace. Be aware that this is somewhat forward. Notice that she does not seem to mind!
Don’t notice that she seems to have planned this, by the way her carriage pulls up in front of you, by the speed in which you return to the palace.
Take in the beauty and the fecund splendor of the Bone Palace of Void City, the echoing shadows of it. Grab onto Feferi’s hand, when she offers it. Be led through the flung-wide sigil etched bone doors, bleached white and tremendous.
Enquire as to whether or not she makes a practice of using human skulls as candleholders. Laugh at own joke. Explain joke to her. Note that her laugh is slightly forced.
Touch the walls, made of mammoth rib bones from some long dead creature, as you walk. Be amazed at the smoothness of them, the austere dead dignity. Blabber, spout anecdotes about the time you found the body of a whale beached on the sands of a tiny island millions of lightyears from here, how you helped the inhabitants of the island pick what was useful and bury the remains.
Follow her as she draws you deeper and deeper into the grayscale terrors of her home. Comment on how uncomfortable it must be to use vertebrae as chairs. Comment on how chilly it is, how you wish you’d brought your jacket. As a scientist, remain academic when you see the strange twisted skeletons that compose all of the furniture in the palace! Wonder how something with so many limbs and wings could exist, but do not be afraid! This is part and parcel, this is just another bit of adventure.
Become a bit alarmed that she says nothing in response. Begin to wonder if you’ve somehow offended her.
Feel fuzzy-headed. Think maybe that fruit wasn’t quite fresh.
When she pushes back a tapestry (a thousand years old, it depicts the slaughter of an alien race by the long reach of Void City’s Dark Masters, in horrid detail) enquire as to where you are going. She will open a secret door and reply, “my room,” and this will thrill you, in more ways than one.
Grow fainter with each step. Let yourself be half-carried to her door, which is yellowed and brittle. Note how her nails dig into your flesh, note how she is pulling you.
Give yourself a second to wait for everything to click. Notice the stains on the door. Get it. Resist the urge to yell.
Yelling can’t help you now. Your gravestone’s as good as written!
Check to see if your guns are loaded. Realize that your guns are missing. All of them. See her smiling, your bejeweled princess, and know that she knows this.
Struggle as she twists her hands around your wrists, wonder at her strength as she drags you into the last stop on your whirlwind tour,
