BONUS ROUND 1
Bonus Round 1
Genre-Mixing
Hey, shippers! Welcome to your very first bonus round proper--we hope you have lots of fun with it! This time around we're going to be asking you to mix it up a little--each fanwork posted for this round will be a mish-mash of two different genres, blended together in a delightful incestuous slurry to create an UNSTOPPABLE CREATIVE CONCOCTION--er. Or. Something.
Yeah, we're genre-mixing. That's what we're doing this round.
Rules
- Submit prompts! Prompts should consist of two different genres and one ship. This cannot be your team's ship! These are worth 5 points each, for a maximum of 100 points per team.
- Look through the prompts and fill whichever you like!
- You may not fill prompts for your ship, nor may you fill your own team's prompts.
- Fills should be posted as replies to the prompts which they are for, following the format below. They may be any medium.
Title Format
If you are starting a new thread, please use this format in your title.
Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your team name is not in this format and in the title we cannot guarantee that it will be counted.
If you are filling a prompt, use this format in your title.

FILL: TEAM [Dirk<>Roxy]
----------
"When are you going to realise that you're being incredibly dense about this?"
Jake looks up from where he's cleaning one of his guns to where Dirk stands, leaning against the door frame. Frowning and resisting the urge to stick out his tongue, he turn away, focusing on his gun once more. He hears Dirk sigh and come closer, still he continues to ignore him. It's only when Dirk pulls up a chair and proceeds to sit and stare that Jake looks up and glares.
"What are you going on about now?"
"The same thing as always," Dirk leans back against the chair, resting his hands behind his head, "Your guns are a liability to us."
"That's not what you said yesterday after I saved your ass from getting munched on by that walker."
"No, but it is what I said after your stupid gunshot drew about a hundred more of them our way."
Jake flushed and looked away once more, grumbling under his breath. Putting the newly polished gun away, he turned to the un-assembled mess of gun parts on his table. He needed to sort it all out. Some pieces he'd acquired along their travels and others he'd... borrowed from stores they'd passed by. Studiously ignoring the way Dirk was watching him, Jake mentally mapped each gun out in his mind, trying to see which he should prepare first and which would be the most useful in combat.
"Are you even listening to me?"
"No." Jake retorted.
Dirk sighed and leaned forward, hand reaching out to still Jake's, "Why won't you let me teach you?"
Jake groaned and turned to face him, "It's just... it's not something I can learn."
"It's not that hard Jake. All you need is a little practice wielding a sword. It won't take much and..."
Jake watched as Dirk hesitated to speak. He raised a brow as Dirk shifted in his seat and cleared his throat. When Dirk started speaking again, Jake could have sworn there was a slight blush on his face, "And I would feel better knowing that you had at least some sort of close-combat training. I mean, it's not as if you could wrestle a zombie."
As Jake opened his mouth to respond, Dirk cut him off wryly, "I mean wrestle one without getting bitten or scratched."
"Don't you think you're asking for a little much? Not even a scratch?! A scratch can't turn you!"
"No. I don't think I'm asking for a lot," Dirk paused for a moment, simply looking at Jake through his shades, "All I want is your safety. That's it."
Jake felt heat rise up in his face once more and he fought the urge to look away. They'd been having a lot of little moments like this lately and Jake wasn't sure what to make of them. Every time Dirk said something like to him, his heart felt like it was clawing up into his throat. He got tongue-tied and he never knew how to respond.
"For the record," he mumbled softly, "My point about scratches not being able to turn you still stands."
Dirk raised a brow and seemed like he was about to argue, but instead he shook his head, "Fine. You can have that one."
Another silence fell upon them. Jake took this moment to reflect on how far they'd gotten. They were miles from home, far from family and friends. They had no idea if anyone they knew and loved were still alive or gone. They'd fought their way through countless zombies and had finally made it to the outskirts of a city where there were bound to be supplies and possibly even other survivors. Here they were, holed up in an old, smelly house with only each other for company. Night was falling outside and if you listened closely you could hear a walker or two grunting. All they had was each other. Dirk was the only thing keeping him going and Jake doubted he'd have ever made it this far without him.
"So..." Jake started.
"Yeah?"
"If I learn to use a sword, will you promise me you'll to handle a gun? Properly, I mean. Like aiming and targeting and firing properly. Not those random shots in the dark that you usually do."
Dirk waited a breath before responding, voice just a whisper, "Why?"
"Because," Jake grinned at him, heart pounding in his chest, "I'd feel better knowing that you had at least some sort of firearm training."
