Hi shippers! Welcome to Bonus Round 3.
In this round, you'll be creating fanworks based on video and computer games from before 2000!

Rules

1. Choose a game that was released before 2000, and post a fanwork based on the game in some way. Make sure to use the appropriate title format (see below). Examples include: character inserts, rewritten dialogue, costume redesigns, alternate soundtracks, theme song covers, photoshopped promo art, etc.


2. Your fill should not be focused on Homestuck characters playing the game--the point of this round is to make a crossover.


3. For this challenge, you are allowed to submit fills based on your team ship. You don't have to, of course!


4. For this challenge, there is no minimum wordcount. We are trusting you not to abuse that fact!


5. This challenge will run until 11:59PM EDT July 21. After that time, even if it's just by a minute according to the timestamp, no submissions will be accepted for points.

Title Format
Please use this format in your title.
FILL: TEAM [YOUR SHIP] - [GAME TITLE] ([YEAR RELEASED])
Replace [YOUR SHIP] with the name of the team YOU belong to; please use the characters and quadrant, not whatever portmanteau or nickname you've come up with.
If your team name is not in this format and in the title we cannot guarantee that it will be counted.
Replace [GAME TITLE] and [YEAR RELEASED] as appropriate.

Posts not using this format in the title will be understood to be unofficial discussion posts, no matter what they contain. They, like all comments on the comm, are subject to the Wank Policy.

Entries 6-10: 20 (per entry)
Entries 11-15: 10 (per entry)
Entries 16+: 5 (per entry)

OAK: Pokemon are creatures that live throughout this world. Some collect and breed them. Trainers use them to fight. I am a Pokemon researcher and collect data on them.

OAK: First things first. Are you a boy or girl?
???: You have to ask???????? Ugh, are you senile or something, old man?
OAK: Wonderful! What is your name?
???: Yeah, senility sure is wonderful. And it's Vriska Serket, duh. Who woooooooouldn't know me?
OAK: It's a pleasure to meet you, Vriska Serket.
OAK: My nephew is your rival... but I have forgotten his name. Could you remind me?
VRISKA: Yeah, yeah, whateeeeeeeever, nice to meet you too. And I'm just getting the sense that you're an exceedingly competent old man with no memory pro8lems whatsoever.

OAK: Silly me, how could I forget his name is Not?
OAK: Before you start on your adventure, you need to pick a starter companion. Your first Pokemon is special and can be a life long friend if trained properly.
OAK: Do you choose: Squirtle, the Water Pokemon that is weak against Grass; Bulbasaur, the Grass Pokemon that is weak against Fire; or Charmander, the Fire Pokemon that is weak against Water?
VRISKA: Don't you have anything a little more 8adass?
OAK: Fantastic choice! Would you like to name your new Charmander?
VRISKA: Hmmmmmmmm... I'll name this 8itch Tavros!
VRISKA: This way it'll 8e extra funny when I 8eat it up.
OAK: What a wonderful name for a Charmander! Tavros has joined your party!
OAK: Now, before you leave on your journey, I have a favour to ask. Please take this PokeDex.
OAK: It will collect helpful data on Pokemon and help me with my research. I will of course give you special items as you catch more Pokemon!
OAK: If you collect them all, you will get something extraordinary!
VRISKA: W8... so this is like a game?
VRISKA: Okay. Okay, I could may8e get into this.
OAK: I'm sure I will hear good things about you as you fight your way to Indigo Plateau! Good luck!

Rose had tracked the leader of the space pirates to this strange yet familiar planet. The surface looked barren and grey under the deluge, but the ship’s sensors told her that the place was practically infested with life just underground. She had memories of this place from her childhood, but it still seemed unknown in some unplaceable way.

She was under no illusions that this would be a walk in the spacepark, of course, but the mission was imperative. She had to get that rainbow drinker grub back at any cost. And not just because she had found herself harboring a somewhat uneasy affinity for the little jade creature. If its kind were allowed to repopulate the universe the consequences would be dire. The wriggler was cute, and would indeed grow to be beautiful, but its need to feed, to drain other life forms of their energy, would be devastating.

Rose steeled herself as she made the final checks on her suit. She’d dealt with Serket before, but the pirate was notoriously cruel, and far too intelligent for her own good. This was made worse by the fact that she was an agent of Her Imperial Condescension. The hag was hiding somewhere deep in the planet, and if she could, Rose would take her out once and for all.

But first there was Serket to deal with, as well as the other members of the space pirate command. Not to mention the other creatures, monsters, and ghosts that undoubtedly haunted her second home.

If Serket had harmed that helpless little jadeblood grub...but she was letting her irrational attachment get in the way of her thoughts again. Priority one was to obtain the subject. And that was all. Following a final press of the keypad to save her suit biometrics and mission data, Rose adjusted her gun and opened her ship’s hatch, ready for the task ahead.

Because of Jack Noir, but mostly, because of yourself. Because you keep making stupid mistakes and you lean heavily on the crutch of knowing you're not going to run out of quarters. Even if the price of each quarter is something so, so very great, it's never going to be anything material to you. Because you can never protect everyone else and keep all of yourself intact, but you must. Anything short of perfection is a loss and it works for a while but they just keep coming and you're going to lose. Every time, you're going to lose.
